Frodo and Sam face to face to Shelob. Well...she does not really look like a giant spider is she? But that's the best I could do. I had a week for making my entries, but I started to make it on the day I had to send it...grrrr...
I finished it in 5 hours or so. The great blackness behind Shelob was colored digitally. I hadn't time (or a mood) to make it with the black pen...
This is actually my entry to another Tolkien art contest. (I hope I won't get any trouble if I upload it...)
The themes were as following: Quenta Silmarillion, The "great deeds" of hobbits, The Rohirrim (If I wrote it correctly), Akallabeth (shame on me, but I do not have the smallest thought about this...could anybody tell me what it is?? ) and Moria.
I have chosen the hobbits, they are cute little fellow... I'm not sure if the trip to Shelob's is a great deed of valour, but I had the idea since a long time, and wanted to make it at last. I hate Frodo's cloak. It looks so unreal, but I only realized this after the scanning...
I also had a great image of the Rohirrim in my mind , but I just couldn't draw a man on a horse...GRRRRRRRRR!!!!
Have to take some lessons, I guess...

P.S.:
A question to all LOTR fans on DA...Is it true that there is a stage musical in process of LOTR????? I just came to these news today and I was like O.O
Nice, this has a really classic feel to it, and good job with the shadow work! This was one of my fav scenes from ROTK (well, it was in TTT in the book wan't it?) and as much as I love the movie I was still like "What? You're sending Sam away??? Nooooo!"
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it. You have such a COOL gallery! ^^
Yes, this scene was indeed in the TTT book...But I saw the movie version first, and loved it very much!
If I remember well Peter Jackson director told Sean Astin (Sam...) he was WONDERFUL and made a beautiful "performance" in the "Frodo's sending Sam away" scene, and the audience has to wait three years to see it...(they've recorded this part very early, as far as I know...)
I had to re-read this part of the book before I made this picture. First I draw Frodo alone as seen in the movie...Then I looked at the instructions of the contest and saw I have to attach the text I draw about...and find out, Sam was ACTUALLY WITH Frodo in Shelob's.
Oo, What's The Website? :hasn't sene it yet:
Whoever Is Being Gollum Has A LOT To Live Up To, That's GOT To Be Difficult..
Hm. I'm Almost Not Surprised That Whoever Is Playing Gandalf Looks Too Young. It Happens.
I am very curious about its music too! If the music in the intro is included then I think it would be good. ((Just listen...)Though it sounds a bit celtic I think...
Ooo, That Is Some Darn Good Intro Music There.

If I Can Get Money In Time For The Trip, I'm Joining My School's Art Club To Go To See It!!!
